Tiny Away Valley Escape is on a beautiful Lovedale property, overlooking nearby grape vines and mountains in the distance. Away from the city and with plenty of food and wine choices nearby, it’s the perfect spot for a weekend (or weekday) stay.

Jenny was a very friendly and welcoming host during my visit, very knowledgeable about winemaking and the local area, and I enjoyed a wine tasting at their Thirsty Palette Cellar Door.
Over the weekend of my stay, I spent a day exploring the local food and wine scene. I live not too far from the Hunter Valley so it wasn’t the first time I have visited, but this time I tried to go to places I hadn’t been before. I visited Pukara Estate at Peppers Creek Village and sampled olives and balsamic vinegar products, then headed right next door to Comyns & Co for a wine-tasting.
Lillino’s at Lovedale was the perfect spot for a delicious Italian lunch, overlooking the vines of St Clements Estate. I had Luigi's Linguine - a tomato and cream based pasta sauce with tasty prawns. The Smelly Cheese Shop and Binnorie Dairy were the ideal stops for some cheese-tasting. I spent Sunday morning with Beyond Ballooning, and then visited Nineteen at The Vintage Estate for brunch. A final quick stop at Hunter Valley Chocolate before I had to pack up and head home from a very full, but relaxing, weekend.
